Kolkata, Dec 28: Sourav Ganguly, the former India captain and the current president of the BCCI has tested positive for Covid-19 in Kolkata. According to the reports, the former India captain has been admitted to the Woodlands hospital in Kolkata with minor symptoms.

The doctors did not want to take a chance with him and therefore, decided to admit him in the hospital on Monday night. His blood samples will be sent genome sequencing to ascertain if he has contracted the Omicron variant or not.

“He was taken to Woodlands Nursing Home last night. He has been given medication and is currently stable,” a BCCI source,

On December 24, Sourav Ganguly attended the premiere of Bangla superstar and TMC MP Dev’s latest film Tonic, where he was seen with celebrities such as Nusrat, Yash, Babul Supriyo, TMC MLA Madan Mitra, and others.

Ganguly has been admitted to the hospital three times this year, the first two times in January when he complained of chest pain. Ganguly had a heart attack while exercising at his Kolkata home and had to have a right coronary angioplasty.

Ganguly experienced similar chest pain 20 days later, prompting the second round of angioplasty on January 28. Two stents were placed in two arteries during the procedure. a

Ganguly returned to work in March after getting fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Snehasish Ganguly, his brother, had also tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this year.
