Jamshedpur, Sept 27: The Bharat Bandh called by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), a coalition of farmers’ unions, to mark the first anniversary of the enactment of the three farm laws evoked a good response in Jamshedpur on Monday.

The 10-hour bandh was supported by various political parties, including JMM and Congress.

Representatives of various farmers’  unions and activists of JMM and Congress hit the streets as early as 8 pm enforcing the bandh in Sakchi, Bistupur and other places.

JMM legislator Ramdas Soren alongwith partymen took out a rally and reached the Sakchi roundabout holding party flags and banners.

At Sakchi and Bistupur the bandh protagonists burnt tyres disrupting traffic movement.

Shops and other commercial establishments remained closed during the bandh.

Public transport including auto-rickshaws and city buses stayed off the road. Long distance buses from the Sitaramdera Bus Terminus also did not ply.

All emergency establishments and essential services, including hospitals, medical stores, and medical emergencies, were allowed to work.

At Mango, BJP activists alleged that cops tried to enforce the bandh.
