Ranchi, Aug 25: Chief Minister Hemant Soren stands disqualified following the opinion of the Election Commission of India (ECI). According to well-placed sources, the ECI held him guilty under Section 9 A of the People’s Representation Act 1951 for misusing his office for pecuniary gain.
The ECI in its opinion communicated to the Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais and maintained that as the Chief Minister and the minister of the mining department he secured a stone mining lease in his name at Angara in Ranchi.
The sources in the ECI confirmed his disqualification. Now Hemant Soren will have to resign from the post of Chief Minister and he also ceases to be MLA of the Jharkhand assembly.
However, it is not clear whether he has been debarred from contesting election for a certain period of time and whether or not he can take oath as CM afresh and gets elected in the next six months. His disqualification necessitated the by-election of the Barhet assembly seat which he represented in the assembly.
But former BJP minister and independent MLA Saryu Roy has claimed that he will be debarred him from contesting any election for a period of three years.

भारत के निर्वाचन आयोग ने झारखंड के राज्यपाल के पास अपनी अनुशंसा भेज दिया है कि @HemantSorenJMM भ्रष्ट आचरण के दोषी पाये गये हैं. फलतः ये विधायक नहीं रह सकते. इन्हें अगले तीन वर्षों तक विधायक का चुनाव लड़ने से अयोग्य करार दिया जा सकता है.

जहां तक मेरा अनुमान है अयोग्य ठहराने की अधिसूचना राजभवन से निकलते ही @HemantSorenJMM इसके विरूद्ध हाईकोर्ट/सुप्रीम कोर्ट जाएँगे. उन्हें जाना भी चाहिए.यदि मुख्यमंत्री रहते न्यायालय से तुरंत स्थगन आदेश नहीं मिला तो मुख्यमंत्री पद छोड़ने के बाद भी वे न्यायिक लड़ाई लड़ सकते हैं.

Now the UPA alliance will have to elect its leader to replace Hemant Soren. Insiders said that Kalpana Soren may be his successor.
