Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sandip Singh has directed the JBVNL officers to submit a detailed list of electricity consumers, including railway, public sector undertakings, and government offices sitting on dues of huge power bills of the department.
According to official sources, besides domestic consumers, traders, government offices and public sector units have been sitting on massive power bills for years.
Sandip Singh while reviewing different departments of the district on Thursday expressed concern over illegal transportation of coal and directed for coordination between Goods Services Tax (GST) and the mining departments to keep a close watch on coal transporting. He pointed out that a coal trader pays GST but sometimes without paper it is sold to other traders.
“Without legal paper coal can’t be transported. So, it is mandatory to verify all E-chalans and check the paper’s validity of transport as massive irregularities have been detected in checking of the GST and mining departments’ Chalan. It incurs heavy revenue loss to the government,” he said.
The DC also directed the concerned department to provide a list of weighing houses ( where coal is being weighed ) and ordered to submit details of when they were inspected last.
At the meeting, the GST department informed that till date in current financial years 38 vehicles were seized and a fine of Rs 21. 61 lakh collected from them as tax. GST department officials also informed that a new mobile application has been installed which gives details of transport with the type of vehicles
