Bihar, Nov 6: Four people, including two army jawans, died under suspicious circumstances in Samastipur on Saturday, informed Bihar Police.
“Total four persons have died and the other two are undergoing treatment and they are out of danger. On inquiry with the surviving victims, they informed that they had a meal on the occasion of shradh of one of the deceased, who was an army officer. The possibility is that the deaths happened due to the consumption of spurious liquor at the home of the officer. We are investigating the matter,” said Samastipur SP Manvjeet Singh.
Notably, in the last 4 days, 41 people have died due to drinking spurious liquor in 3 districts of Bihar. 6 people are in critical condition and 3 of them have lost their eyesight. Among the dead, 20 are from Gopalganj, 17 from Bettiah and 4 from Samastipur including BSF and Army personnel.
Due to the non-availability of a postmortem report, the administration is treating them as suspicious deaths, but according to the relatives, they died due to drinking alcohol.
