Nalanda, July 23: The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has launched a rescue operation after a 3-year-old child fell down a borewell in Kul village in Bihar’s Nalanda, on Sunday.
The child has been recognized as Shivam Kumar by the authorities.
According to the available information, a farmer made the borewell, but it wasn’t sealed, leading to this tragic occurrence. The children Shivam was playing with alerted his parents after which the rescue effort got underway.
The Vice President of Nagar Panchayat Nalanda, Nalin Maurya, is helping with the rescue effort.
Maurya said, “This borewell was made by the farmer for boring. But boring didn’t succeed here, so they started boring in another place and this borewell was not closed”.
The boy is still alive, according to Circle Officer Shambhu Mandal, who earlier in the day said that they could hear his voice.
“We received information that a child fell into a borewell…We are trying our best to rescue the child. The child is still alive, we can hear his voice…,” he said.
To administer oxygen and remove the child from the bore, JCB machines have been sent in.
In charge of the police station Dinesh Kumar Singh said attempts are being undertaken to rescue the child securely. The incident has also been reported to the senior officer. Many Parsottam officials arrived at the scene after learning about the occurrence.
