Patna: The 2025 Bihar Assembly Election results have shattered the long-standing notion that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) eventually overshadows or sidelines its allies. Contrary to speculation, Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) has not only held its ground but emerged stronger — leading in 82 seats, surpassing even the BJP within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
JDU Strengthens Its Position In The NDA
By outperforming expectations, the JDU has reinforced its status as a dominant force within the alliance. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has once again proven his political mettle, establishing himself as a seasoned survivor in Bihar politics. The results reaffirm his position as the “big brother” in the NDA equation — a significant turnaround from 2020 when the BJP had more seats than JDU.
Debate Over Nitish’s Relevance Silenced
Throughout the campaign, there was widespread debate that if the NDA secured a majority, the BJP would dominate and sideline Nitish Kumar. However, the current trends have silenced such discussions. The verdict shows that Nitish Kumar remains central to the NDA’s success in Bihar — a clear message that “the tiger is still alive.”
