Srinagar: Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have demolished the residence of Umar Mohammad alias Umar un-Nabi, the doctor-turned-terrorist who carried out the Red Fort car blast in Delhi earlier this week. The demolition took place early Thursday in Pulwama, South Kashmir, as part of the ongoing counterterrorism operations.

Doctor-Turned-Terrorist Confirmed As Red Fort Bomber

Investigators confirmed Umar’s identity through DNA testing, matching samples from his mother to those recovered at the blast site on Netaji Subhash Marg, near the Red Fort. The explosion, triggered Monday evening, killed 13 peopleand injured more than 20 others. Umar, a faculty member at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, was reportedly driving the Hyundai i20 that exploded at a traffic signal, marking one of the most severe terror incidents in the capital in recent years.

Demolition As A Message To Terror Backers

Authorities said the demolition was meant to send a strong warning to individuals aiding or abetting terrorist activities within India. This follows similar actions taken against those involved in the Pahalgam terror plot, underlining the government’s zero-tolerance approach toward terrorism and its sympathisers.

Terror Network With Educated Members Exposed

The Delhi blast investigation has also exposed a disturbing trend — terror organisations recruiting educated professionals, including doctors, for operational planning and execution. Umar’s associates, Dr. Muzammil Shakeel and Dr. Shaheen Saeed, both affiliated with Al-Falah University, were arrested after investigators seized 2,900 kg of explosive materials and sophisticated weapons, including assault rifles, from properties in Faridabad.

Officials believe Umar detonated the car bomb prematurely after learning about his associates’ arrests. The module, linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), had allegedly planned a series of coordinated attacks across Delhi and northern India.
