New Delhi, Sept 12: Nikhil Mandal, the spokesperson for Janata Dal United (JDU), left his position on Monday, claiming personal reasons. This comes a month after Nitish Kumar joined the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan.
Mandal, who took his position in 2016, according to the sources was unsure about receiving a ticket for the assembly elections in 2025 after the political dynamics in the state shifted as a result of the JD(U) and RJD joining forces. He plans to run from Madhepura in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
“In this 6 years 7 months and 12 days, I received immense love and respect from all the media colleagues, for which I thank all of you from my heart,” Nikhil Mandal wrote on twitter.

Nikhil Mandal ran for the Bihar legislature in the year 2020 but was defeated by Dr. Chandrashekhar of the Rashtriya Janata Dal. After the JDU recently joined forces with the Mahagathbandhan, Chandrashekhar was appointed minister of education by the Nitish Kumar administration.
Additionally, when they were in opposition, he had harsh words for RJD leader Lalu Prasad and his son Tejaswi Yadav. He now finds himself in a challenging position to defend the Lalu family on the matter of corruption following the installation of a new government in the state.
