Patna, Nov.16: In the wake of a series of hooch disasters in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar convened a high-level review meeting on the state’s liquor prohibition on Tuesday.
The meeting comes after 32 people died in the state as a result of imbibing fake booze, with the most recent death reported from Muzaffarpur.
Bihar Minister Shahnawaz Hussain stated that everyone is aware of the government’s position on the liquor ban, and that the meeting is being conducted to ensure that the law is effectively implemented in the state.
BJP leader Jivesh Kumar Mishra said, “We urge all the political parties to come together on this in the public interest. The crime rate has decreased in Bihar after the liquor ban and parties should rise above politics and support this for the welfare of the people.”
Janak Chamar, another Bihar minister, stated that whatever decision is made during the meeting, it will be made with the benefit of the people of Bihar in mind.
On Monday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had stated that the crime rate in Bihar has decreased as a result of the booze ban, and that he is opposed to liquor.
