Patna, July 19: A group of men attacked a young man in the Sitamarhi area of Bihar after they claim he watched a video of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, who sparked a significant controversy with her comments on Prophet Muhammad.
However, according to police, the assault that happened four days ago was brought on by personal animosity. Nupur Sharma is not mentioned in the FIR that was filed in this instance. According to authorities, two people have been detained in connection with the crime, while two more have fled.
Ankit Jha, the victim, is being treated at a private hospital in Darbhanga. He is from the village of Bahera. It was stated that his condition was critical.
Ankit Jha said in his statement that he was watching a video of Nupur Sharma on his phone at a paan shop when four males, including one named Mohammad Bilal, approached him. Jha claimed that they became enraged as a result of him viewing the BJP leader’s video. Before allegedly stabbing him with a knife six times in the waist, they allegedly beat him.
On the other hand, DSP Vinod Kumar said that two friends got into a fight when they were eating paan at the paan shop since the shop also sold cannabis. The stabbing resulted from this.
According to Ankit Jha’s relatives, he was attacked because of the Nupur Sharma video. In addition to Mohammad Bilal, five other people have been identified as defendants in the case, according to Manoj Jha, his father.
