Patna, Sept 12: Leshi Singh, a JDU leader and the minister for food and consumer protection in Bihar, has served a Rs 5 crore defamation notice against Janata Dal-United (JDU) legislator Bima Bharti in response to her recent allegations that she had engaged in murder and extortion.
In support of her claims, Bima Bharti criticised the minister for serving her with a defamation notice and showed a copy of FIR 145/20, dated 7/11/2020, filed at the Sarsi police station in relation to a murder that reportedly involved Leshi Singh in Purnia in 2020.
“Whatever I said was nothing wrong. I have proof in the form of an FIR that shows that Leshi Singh was involved in murder cases. She is the prime accused in the murder case”, said Bima Bharti.
“The defamation notice has been sent to me because I come from an extremely backward class background. She is trying to pressurise me with the Rs. 5 crore defamation notice,” she added.
The Janata Dal-United lawmaker requested Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to take firm action and remove the minister from the cabinet following the most recent revelation on her possible role in the murder case.
