Patna, July 26: During a protest in Kathihar against the electricity department, the police reportedly opened fire to disperse the mob, resulting in one person’s death and two others getting injured.
Residents of a village close to Barsoi town in Kathihar gathered in front of the electricity department to voice their displeasure with the erratic electricity supply and elevated power prices.
According to initial reports, the mob allegedly threw stones at and vandalised the power department office, and police fired shots to disperse them. Even the cops and the villagers got into a fight.
The Superintendent of Police and the District Magistrate are on the scene. The two injured were taken urgently to a local hospital where they are currently receiving care.
