Ranchi, March 27: Two smugglers of Jharkhand were caught in Gaya district of Bihar carrying liquor in a coffin. The coffin was kept in an ambulance.
Those arrested include Lalit Kumar, a resident of Kokar under Sadar police station area of Ranchi in Jharkhand. He was driving the ambulance. Another one arrested is Pankaj Yadav, a resident of Chatra in Jharkhand. He was accompanying Kumar.
The quantity of liquor seized is 212 bottles.
A police official said that the liquor consignment was being taken to Muzaffarpur from Ranchi in Jharkhand. “On being suspicious, the police intercepted the ambulance late on Sunday night near Dhirjapul located on the Dobhi-Jharkhand border and searched it. After the search, liquor bottles were found in the coffin instead of the dead body,” the police official said.
