Patna, Jan 22: The Bihar Health Department has claimed that the state ranks fourth among the top five states of the country in case of vaccination rates. Even after this claim, there is concern about the precautionary dosage.

People suffering serious illness, above 60 years of age in the state have raised the concerns to the government. Only 16 percent of people aged above the age of 60 have received the third dose of the vaccine. The Health Department claims that it is working towards speeding up the vaccination procedure.

In Bihar, 33,61,789 children between the age of 15 to 18 years have received the vaccination doses, which makes it 39 percent of the children of the state.

At the same time, the total target of the number of precautionary vaccination doses provided to health care workers is 3.24 lakhs, of which 1.77 lakh have been vaccinated which is 54 percent.

In terms of precautionary doses to the frontline workers, a total target of 1.76 lakh has been set of which only 78 thousand workers have been vaccinated making it 44 percent. Similarly, only 16 percent of people who are ill and over the age of 60 have received the third dose of the vaccine.

The Health department has appealed, as the effects of vaccination are clearly visible in the third wave, the importance of the vaccine should be understood and everyone should get vaccinated.

According to the data provided by the Health Department, the work of vaccination is being done in more than 9 thousand sessions in the state.

So far, a total of 10,91,63,195 people have been vaccinated in the state, in which the number of people who took the first dose is 6,31,62,463 while 4,56,64,295 people have taken the second dose.
