Patna, July 24: The accused used to receive money from Qatar in the form of cryptocurrency, according to the investigation into the Phulwari Sharif terror module case in Bihar, police said on Sunday.

Marguv Ahmad Danish, a 26-year-old Phulwari Sharif native, was detained on July 15 for reportedly running the anti-India WhatsApp groups ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’ and ‘Direct Jihad.’

“Evidence, collected during the investigation, revealed that Danish received funds in the form of cryptocurrency from Qatar-based organisation Alfalhi,” said a police officer.

The National Investigation Agency is now investigating the matter (NIA).

“Investigations have also revealed that Danish was connected with a Pakistan-based fundamentalist group, Tehriq-e-Labbaiq. He was also in regular touch with Faizan, a Pakistani national,” the officer said.

He claimed that Danish was the group’s administrator and was in contact with a number of other international groups.

Notably, the police discovered the terror module on July 14 and arrested three persons as a result. On Wednesday, the NIA searched Jamia Maria Niswa Madrasa in the East Champaran district of Bihar and detained a teacher named Asghar Ali in connection with the investigation.
