Champaran, Sept 10: Two coaches of Humsafar Express train, which was travelling from Delhi to Katihar, derailed at Champaran on Saturday. The accident occurred in Bihar’s West Champaran district, close to the Harinagar station of the Bagaha line.
A sense of panic prevailed among the passengers following the derailing. There have been no reports of casualties. Helplines have been established by the railroad. Following the mishap, the road between Gorakhpur and Muzaffarpur has been affected.
The evidence indicates that this accident occurred on Saturday about 3 pm between the Paniyahwa-Narkatiyaganj railway section and the Samastipur division. The Delhi to Katihar 15706 Champaran Humsafar Express train derailed in coaches S-1 and S-2. A major accident was avoided when the train came to a stop shortly after the collision.
Vehicles for accident relief from Raxaul and Narkatiaganj were summoned to the scene. Clearing the track is a top priority.
