New Delhi, Dec 14: A 17-year-old girl was attacked with acid by two bike-borne men in Delhi’s Dwarka area. As per the latest reports, the incident took place at around 7:30 am, the girl suffered severe burn injuries and has been referred to the Safdarjung Hospital.
In the CCTV footage, the girl can be seen walking on the side of the road when two bike-borne men threw acid on her face and fled the spot after committing the crime. The girl ran instantly as she felt the acid has been thrown at her.
The police officials and DCP Dwarka reached the hospital and are currently speaking to the girl’s relative. “My daughters, one aged 17 and the other 13 were out together this morning. Suddenly, two men on a bike threw acid at my elder daughter and drove away. They had covered their faces,” the girl’s father said.
As per Delhi Police, a PCR call was made around 9 am regarding an acid attack incident on a girl in the Mohan Garden Police Station area. It was stated that a 17-year-old girl has been allegedly attacked with acid at around 7:30 am by two persons on a bike in the morning. At the time of the incident, the minor was with her younger sister. The girl has raised suspicion over two persons known to them. One person has been detained and further investigation is going on in the case. As per the preliminary report, the girl is under treatment in the ICU and is critical.
Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Chairperson Swati Maliwal also tweeted about the incident and said that the commission will seek justice for the victim.
