New Delhi, March 25: The Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2022, will be introduced in the Lok Sabha on Friday by Home Minister Amit Shah.
The bill to consolidate Delhi’s three municipal corporations was approved by the Union Cabinet on Tuesday. On Friday, the measure is scheduled to be introduced in the Lok Sabha.
According to the bill, the former Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s 2011 trifurcation was uneven in terms of territorial divisions and revenue-generating possibilities.
The main goal of the previous Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s trifurcation was to create compact municipalities in various parts of the city in order to provide more effective civic services to the public.
