New Delhi, March 25: Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi on Friday meets External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for delegation-level talks.
Earlier in the day he also meets National Security Advisor Ajit Doval at his office in South Block, Delhi. Wang Yi is scheduled to fly to Nepal later today after visiting Pakistan and Afghanistan before arriving in Delhi.
The visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister has been shrouded in mystery, with neither side issuing an official statement. According to Reuters, Wang was seen leaving the commercial airport rather than the adjoining defence base, which is where most foreign dignitaries land.
The visit is intended to re-establish physical contact after a lengthy standoff. According to the sources, the Chinese minister is also planning to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a BRICS gathering in Beijing later this year.
