Ranchi, March 30: The Birsa Munda Memorial Park and Museum, situated in the premises of the old jail, Ranchi has started its trial run for the public. Currently there is no entry charge for the public but in the future entry charges will be applied.
Santosh Singh, one of the security guards at the museum, said that till now there has been less number of people who have attended the park.
“Since it’s just the third day since the park has opened, the crowd has been modest and we are hoping that in the coming few days more people will come and visit the place,” he said. Approximately 400-450 people visited the park till afternoon on Wednesday.
The park cum Museum is spread over 30 acres of land and has cost around Rs. 142.31 crores till now in its construction, out of which 117.31 crores has been funded by the state government whereas Rs. 25 crore by the central government.
Out of the 30 acres, the garden is spread over 25 acres of land whereas the museum occupies 5 acres. The prime attraction of the Park is the museum.
In the park, the biography of other brave martyrs of Jharkhand, including Bhagwan Birsa Munda and the story of their struggle for the country’s independence is present for the tourists. The 25 feet high statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda outside the jail premises is the centre of attraction.
In front of the main building, nine feet tall statues of Ganga Narayan Singh, Poto Ho, Bhagirathi Manjhi, Veer Budhu Bhagat, Telanga Khadia, Sido-Kanho, Nilambar-Pitamber, Diva-Kisun, Gaya Munda and Tana Bhagat have been put up. Behind each statue, their struggling lives have been presented by murals.
The biography and struggle of the tribal revolution and the brave freedom fighters of the state will be displayed through laser and light shows, film and musical fountains in the entire campus.
