Dhanbad, June 17: Birsa Institute of Technology (BIT) Sindri, a Jharkhand government-owned institution, bagged the 2nd position in the first survey conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) among the engineering colleges of the country.

As per the assessment survey report, 193 engineering graduates of BIT Sindri achieved a five-star ranking (those who scored over 70%) on the test.

AICTE conducted a learning assessment test for engineering college students across the country between September 2021 to June 2022.

The achievement of BIT Sindri keeps significance as it is not just a rank in the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the country but its students have left behind their counterparts studying in top-ranked institutions.

College of Engineering Pune, an autonomous institute under the Maharashtra government, got the first rank in the survey followed by NMAM Institute of Technology Karnataka (3rd position).

Pune (Maharashtra) Engineering College’s highest 313 students got a five-star ranking while Karnataka’s NMAM College’s 166 students scored over 70% with 9 five-star ranks).

For measuring the skills development of students and faculties in technical institutes in India, AICTE Parakh conducted online tests across the country.

IITs did not participate in this learning assessment test of AICTE.

The top six engineering colleges in country whose students scored over 70% in the learning assessment survey are-

  1. College of Engineering Pune (Maharashtra)
  2. Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri (Jharkhand)
  3. NMAM Technology (Karnataka)
  4. The National Institute of Technology (Karnataka)
  5. Punjab engineering College (Chandigarh)
  6. NIT Warangal (Telangana)

BIT director Dr DK Singh and chairman of Career Development Centre (CDC), BIT Sindri Prof Ghanshyam said that it is an outstanding achievement for the institution as well as Jharkhand.

“Leaving behind the engineering colleges of the country with a higher perception index proves that BIT Sindri stands among the best in the terms of quality of the students in the country,” said Dr DK Singh.

The director further added that the result BIT Sindri achieved today is the hard work of all students, faculty members and other stakeholders of the institution. He also attributes credit to the placement team under Madhav Kumar.

CDC chairman Prof Ghanshyam Kumar Singh while highly appreciating the students said that this glorious achievement is a testament to BIT’s growth under the leadership of director Dr DK Singh who works to promote the BIT brand.
