BIT Sindri director Dr DK Singh appointed VC of Jharkhand Technical University

Dhanbad, June 8: The faculty members and alumni of BIT Sindri living in different parts of the country as well as abroad have congratulated the institution’s director Dr DK Singh for his selection as vice-chancellor of  Jharkhand Technical University (JTU) and expressed hope that the organization would be benefitted immensely from his academic and administrative experience.

The Chancellor (Governor) office on Wednesday evening issued a notification regarding the appointment of Dr DK Singh ( director BIT Sindri) as vice-chancellor of Jharkhand  Technical University for three years. The post of JTU  vice-chancellor had been vacant since 2021.

Since he was the director of the state’s lone technical institute, he had been considered a deserving candidate for it.

Dr DK Singh had taken charge of BIT Sindri in 2017 and made the institution the second best engineering college in the country as per the 2022 survey of the All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. Besides it,  BIT Sindri emerged first in East Zone Engineering College ranking competition 2022, first prize in the IFAT India Trade Fair University Challenge competition held in Mumbai in October 2022 and became a champion in Eastern India Geo-Mining Technocrats Fest (MINARS) held at NIT Rourkela, 2023.

Dr DK Singh was the first vice-chancellor of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University ( 2017 – 2018) as he was given an additional charge alongside being the director of BIT Sindri and recently IIT ISM appointed him as a Senate member.

After getting information, senior professors of BIT Sindri today met Dr DK Singh at his campus-based residence and congratulated him.

Those who greeted him were Prof Upendra Prasad ( dean students welfare), Prof Pankaj Ray ( dean academy), Prof DK Tati, Prof R K Verma, Prof Jitendra Mahto, Prof Manoj Kumar, Prof Abdul Kalam, Prof Vineet Shekhar, Prof Ghanshyam, Prof Swati Tomar, Prof Rak Nayak,  Prof DP Yadav, Prof Anil Mahto, Prof  SC Dutta, Prof MD Akram Khan, Prof Jitu Khujur while congratulating  Dr Singh said that it is immense pleasure and we feel pride that our director has been selected the VC of JTU.

“ His achievements are an inspiration for us and hope he will be successful  as vice-chancellor of JTU,” they said
