Dhanbad, Dec 5: ‘Prayas India’, an NGO run by the BIT Sindri students, organized a blood donation camp to bail out the blood-starved government as well as private hospitals of Dhanbad and Bokaro districts.

The camp was organized on Sunday under the supervision of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) where BIT students, and members of Prayas India, donated 200 units of blood.

A team of Prayas India comprising Anup Kumar Mahto, Rahul Kumar, Rajkamal, Deepak Kumar, Subhash Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, Nilam and Shweta of different years said that apart from blood donation, their organization also held three health camps simultaneously at Centre-2, DAV Tasra Centre-3 and Blind School Domgarh where blood pressure, eyes and diabetes tests for villagers were done free of cost.

The organizers said that the health camps were successfully conducted in cooperation with SNMMCH, Asian Jalan Hospital Dhanbad, Sanjiv Netralaya and KM Memorial Hospital Chas (Bokaro). The team of Sanjiv Netralaya conducted the eye screening of people while the SNMMCH team under the supervision of Blood Bank in-charge Dr Amrendra Kumar Singh conducted the donation process.

Medical College Blood Bank technical supervisor Gunadhar Pandit, Ashok Sharma and Sanjiv Kumar were the team members to conduct blood donation.

Prayas India members said besides conducting tests, the doctors also prescribed medicines to patients and advised them on ways to control the diseases.
