Ranchi, June 29: BJP state president Deepak Prakash has questioned Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s intentions on the issue of the triple test required to ensure reservation for backward communities in civic bodies.
According to Prakash, the Soren cabinet delegated responsibility for the triple test to the headless Jharkhand Backward Class Commission.
“How can the state commission for backwardness make decisions on backward reservation in civic bodies when it is currently without a chairman and not functioning?” Prakash wondered.
“If the Soren government’s intention had been clear, its cabinet would not have given responsibility to a headless institution to take decisions on an issue of larger public interest,” he said.
Prakash, who is also a Rajya Sabha member, further stated that the entire exercise was carried out to postpone the civic body election.
“Anticipating a resounding defeat in civic body elections like its defeat in rural body election held without a triple test, the Soren administration employed postponement tactics. It’s like starting a school without a teacher,” he explained.
