Ranchi, April 28: A BJP delegation today demanded a check on the arbitrary behaviour of election officers in the block in the interest of grass root level democracy.
The demand was raised after BJP received several complaints from aspiring candidates for the Panchayat election regarding the rejection of their nomination papers in the last stage. The party came to know that in most of the cases the reason behind the rejection remained non-supply of account of expenses and information regarding criminal cases.
Apart from this, the party also came to know that the ruling party is also hatching a conspiracy to ensure the cancellation of nomination papers of those not loyal to the ruling party.
The party asked the state election commission to ensure proper support to candidates keeping their poor information of law into consideration and ensuring that they can participate in the election without much hassle to strengthen the democracy at the grass-root level.
