Ranchi, Feb.11: A delegation of the BJP comprising its legislature party chief and former CM Babulal Marandi, BJP national vice president and former CM Raghubar Das, Ranchi MLA and former assembly speaker C.P.Singh, and two senior leaders Gangotri Kujur, and Aditya Sahu besides Hatia MLA Navin Jaiswal today met Governor Ramesh Bais at Raj Bhawan and handed over a memorandum demanding the termination of Hemant Soren from the post of chief minister for misusing his official position to run business in the mining sector.

The development took place a day after Raghubar Das demanded resignation from chief minister Hemant Soren and his brother Basant Soren for carrying out business in the field of mining despite being government servants.

Meanwhile, a PIL was filed in Jharkhand High Court by one Shankar Sharma against Chief Minister Hemant Soren for misusing his office to run a personal business. The petition has claimed that Hemant Soren as chief minister secured a lease and environmental clearance to run stone mining activity at Angara circle in Ranchi in 0.88 acres area.

The petitioner claimed that Soren held the portfolio of the mining department and he misused his office to get the mining lease. The petitioner has said that under Article 191 (9) of the Constitution he can’t do a business and he has committed a criminal act so he is liable to be prosecuted under sections 7 (A) and 13 (1) (d) of the Prevention of the Corruption Act 1988 and 169 of the IPC. The petitioner has sought cancellation of this membership from the assembly.

The petitioner has made the state of Jharkhand through chief secretary as a respondent of the case. The Chief minister, home secretary, mining secretary, Ranchi district mining officer, CBI, Enforcement Directorate and principal secretary of the Governor too have been named as respondents of this matter.
