Ranchi, March 2: Hazaribagh MLA Manish Jaiswal raised the issue of digging a limited number of small ponds, Dobha, under MNREGA in the assembly asking why the government does not stop the scheme in the state if it is not able to run it properly.
He said in the financial year 2020-21 and 2021-22 as many as 58720 dobha (small ponds) had to be dug but against the planned number only 20004 dobha could be dug suggesting that hardly 34.07 percent work has been done.
The legislator while raising the issue also attracted the attention of the house towards the corruption in the implementation of the MNREGA scheme mentioning the report that suggests the use of machines for the work, FIR against officials besides others.
On which parliamentary affairs minister Alamgir shared the practical problem in its implementation saying the union government delays payment for three to four months and people do not want digging of Dobha in its field. The minister also talked about limited remuneration.
On which the legislator said why the government stops the scheme in the state if it is difficult to implement. Minister Alam took strong exception to this statement.
