Ranchi, Aug.20: Police today recovered a partially burnt body of a tribal youth from Hawai Nagar under Jagannathpur police station. The place is close to Birsa Munda Airport and Birsa Chowk on Ranchi-Khunti Road.
It was identified as that of Arjun Linda (22), a resident of Latma, Singh More, who used to work as a mechanic at TVS showroom in the same locality from where the body was recovered.
Officer–in–charge of said police station A.K. Singh confirmed the recovery saying proper legal action is being taken in the matter.
A close relative of the deceased said Linda had left in the intervening night of August 15 and 16.
“He left the house around 1.15 am on August 16 asking us to close the door from inside. When he did not return throughout the night we started searching for him and asked his friends. We came to know that he celebrated a liquor party at night and during the party, he went with one Vikas Tirkey for having tobacco and then both of them did not return to the liquor party venue. When we asked Tirkey about the whereabouts of Linda he expressed his ignorance. We then registered a missing case and finally, his body was recovered,” the elder brother of the deceased said.
A lady close to Linda said acid was used to burn the youth. “Face of the youth is burnt with the help of acid. This indicates how brutally he was killed,” she said expressing her anonymity.
The body was sent for autopsy at RIMS and police converted the missing case into a murder case. Tirkey has been detained for interrogation.
