Dhanbad Oct 22: Three iron rods ripped through the body of a 12 years old boy after he fell from a guava tree in Asanboni village under Govindpur police station on Friday afternoon.
Dr. DP Bhushan, Orthopaedics Head of Department at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad, who pulled out the rods from the boy’s body in an hour long operation along with his team, said that his condition was critical but stable.
The rods, which had a diameter of one and half centimetres, pierced through his left thigh, left arm, and leg.
Family members said the boy had climbed on the tree to pluck guava and fell on the ground where pieces of iron rods were kept. At first, the villagers tried to pull the rods out from his body using local treatment but looking at his critical condition, they got him admitted to SNMMCH.
“We successfully operated to bring out all three rods from his body but the condition of the boy is not out of danger,” said Dr Bhushan.
The boy’s father had died three years ago and his mother runs the family by working as domestic help.
