Ranchi, Jan 28: Unlike the Delta variant of the Covid-19, Omicron strain have fewer post covid complications which tend to prolong for 2 weeks.

According to the health officials of the state, weakness, cough and brain fog are the prominent post covid complications among the infected during the third wave of the covid infection.

Dr Ajit Kumar of Sadar Hospital, Ranchi said that in comparison to the delta variant, the new Omicron variant has fewer post covid complications. The previous one had the issue of lung infection which proved to be the major cause of death during the second wave. This variant does not affect the lungs and thus majority doesn’t have breathing issues.

“Brain fog, cough and weakness are the major post covid complications in the third wave. For cough one can take cough syrup and for weakness, rest is suggested with proper sleep and being hydrated. For brain fogging no medication is suggested and can be treated through yoga and meditation,” Kumar said.

“The person associated with some recreational activities will boost up the healing process if suffering from brain fog. Brain fogging generally tends to lower the thinking ability of a person and persist for 2 weeks after which it fades away. It involves memory problems, a lack of mental clarity, and an inability to focus,” Kumar added.

The active cases are now on a downward trend with a gradual and successive decrease in the past one week. From 25,578 active cases reported on January 20, the figure came down to 12,076 active cases by January 27 indicating the addition of fewer new cases than those declared recovered.

Active cases are coming down sharply in Ranchi as well. On Thursday, as against 108 new cases, there were as many as 1,361 recoveries without any casualty, bringing down the number of active cases in the district to 4,805. A similar trend was observed on Wednesday when there were 1,401 recoveries against 289 new cases.
