Ranchi: In a chilling incident that sent shockwaves across Ranchi, a prominent land dealer, Madhur Rai, was brutally shot dead in broad daylight on Sunday in the Namkum area. The crime took place in Kawali, where unidentified bike-borne assailants ambushed Rai and opened fire as he was traveling on his scooter.

According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers fired nearly 12 rounds, leaving Rai dead on the spot. The attackers fled immediately after committing the murder, leaving the area in a state of panic.

The motive behind the gruesome murder remains unclear, but initial investigations suggest it may be linked to Madhur Rai’s land dealings. “We are examining all possible angles, and a land dispute cannot be ruled out at this stage,” a police official said.

The police team reached the scene shortly after the incident and cordoned off the area to begin their probe. Officials are collecting evidence and statements from witnesses to trace the attackers.

Rising Concerns Over Land Disputes

The murder highlights the growing issue of violence over land disputes in Ranchi and the surrounding areas. Such incidents have raised serious concerns about public safety and the involvement of organized crime in property dealings.

The incident has left the local community in shock, with residents demanding swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Call for Justice

Madhur Rai’s family and associates have expressed their grief and called for a thorough investigation. “This is a heinous crime, and those responsible should face the strictest punishment,” a relative said.

The police have assured the public of a detailed investigation and urged anyone with information to come forward. Further updates are expected as the case progresses.
