Deoghar, July 7: Deoghar, renowned for its Shravani Mela, has taken a significant step towards ensuring the comfort and well-being of mothers attending the festival. In the past, it had been a challenge for mothers to find a suitable place to breastfeed their hungry children amidst the bustling crowds.

However, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Manju Nath Bhajantri has initiated a thoughtful solution by providing dedicated breastfeeding corners throughout the medical help camps.

These specially designated areas, aptly named “Breastfeeding Corners,” aim to create a welcoming space where mothers can comfortably nourish their infants without facing any hesitation or inconvenience. The idea emerged from the realization that a significant number of mothers attend the festival with their young children, who rely on breastfeeding for sustenance. During the Mela, it becomes crucial to provide a private corner where mothers can fulfil their maternal responsibilities without feeling the need to hide or compromise their child’s needs.

In addition to the breastfeeding corners, the administration has also made sanitary napkins readily available at every medical camp. This thoughtful provision recognizes the importance of menstrual hygiene and aims to ensure the well-being and convenience of women attending the festival. Information cum help desk centres have also been set up this year to further assist visitors.

Contributing to this cause, organizations like Thakur Anukool Chandra have generously donated a substantial number of packs of sanitary napkins to the Deoghar district administration ahead of the advent of the Shrawani Mela. This collaborative effort highlights the collective determination to address the needs of women and promote their health and dignity during the festival.
