New Delhi, March 31: British Foreign Minister Liz Truss will travel to India on Thursday as part of a ‘broader diplomatic push’ on the Ukraine conflict, which will coincide with her Russian colleague Sergei Lavrov’s visit to the country.
“Foreign Secretary Liz Truss and External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar will address the India-UK Strategic Futures Forum today to set out their vision for the long-term relationship between the two countries,” said British High Commission in India.
Truss will emphasise the “value of democracies working together to discourage aggressors,” according to the British foreign ministry, and she wants a better connection with India to enhance security and jobs in both nations.
Truss will meet with Indian officials to discuss developing defense-related trade, especially innovative security technology, and increasing defence ties. She will also try to strengthen bilateral cybersecurity and defence collaboration, as well as announce a new collaborative cybersecurity programme, according to sources.
The program’s goal is to secure both countries’ online infrastructure against cyber-attacks. According to sources, India and the United Kingdom would collaborate to improve cyber security and conduct joint drills to practise countering cybercriminals and ransomware threats.
The first Strategic Tech Dialogue, a ministerial-level forum on new technologies, will be held, according to the British Foreign Secretary.
Meanwhile, India’s foreign ministry said Lavrov would also visit India on Thursday.
