Four rounds struck the BSF jawan during the insurgent ambush, reports claim. Girjesh was flown to Agartala where he was later pronounced dead.

When the firing from the other side of the border began this morning, a BSF team was conducting an area domination operation at the border outpost area in the Kanchanpur subdivision, according to reports.

The insurgents escaped when BSF soldiers reacted.
