New Delhi, Dec 21: Border Security Force (BSF) personnel discovered approximately 25 kilogrammes of heroin valued at crores on Wednesday, after a brief confrontation with Pakistani smugglers at the international border in the Punjabi area of Fazilka.

Smugglers were successful in fleeing by taking advantage of the thick fog.

As soon as suspicious movement was spotted on the border, BSF soldiers opened fire with six rounds. The BSF and Punjab Police are conducting a search operation in the region. The Punjabi district of Fazilka’s Abohar area is where the heroin was found.

Smugglers were able to escape by taking advantage of the heavy fog. The area has been completely blocked off.

“Suspicious movement was noticed near the border wire at 2 am. We are searching the area,” said Fazilka SSP, Bhupinder Singh Sidhu.
