Ranchi: The budget session of the Jharkhand Assembly witnessed high drama on its tenth day as Education Minister Ramdas Soren took a dig at the opposition while presenting the budget for the School and Higher Education Department. He blamed the BJP government for the closure of schools, lack of teacher recruitment, and poor education infrastructure in the state.

Countering former Education Minister Neera Yadav’s claims, Soren said that the figures she presented were from the BJP’s tenure, during which the opposition allegedly closed 7,500 schools and worked against tribals, indigenous people, minorities, and backward communities.

The situation escalated when Soren accused the BJP of forcing teachers to sell liquor, prompting BJP MLA Naveen Jaiswal to strongly object. Following the heated exchange, BJP legislators walked out of the Assembly in protest.

State’s Education System to Be Strengthened in Five Years

Minister Soren highlighted that schools in Jharkhand are now operating under the CBSE pattern and that teacher recruitment will align with tribal and regional language requirements. He also announced that a Tribal University is being established in Jamshedpur, with a dedicated research department.

Key Initiatives for the Next Five Years:

✅ Strengthening the state’s education system

✅ Better infrastructure and employment opportunities to curb migration

✅ Distribution of tablets to teachers for digital education

✅ 50-hour annual training program for teachers

✅ Full digitization of school operations

The minister assured that the government is committed to enhancing education in Jharkhand and ensuring better employment opportunities for students in the coming years.
