Those sentenced are Sweta Das alias Bullet Rani, Sweta’s lover Sumeet Singh and an associate Sonu Kumar.
The court had already convicted the three in the sensational murder case on Thursday and had fixed today for pronouncement of the sentence.
The case was sensational as the convict Sweta Das had conspired the murder of her husband Tapan Das with the help of her lover Sumeet Singh at the victim’s flat in Shamsher Residency in Telco on January 12, 2018.
According to the prosecution, after getting her husband murdered by her paramour, Sweta had kept the body inside a refrigerator at her home for a day. Later on January 13, 2018, she got the body dumped in a bush at Barabanki village along the NH-33 under the MGM thana area before lodging a missing report with the police.
Sumeet Singh had arranged an auto-rickshaw and had taken the refrigerator with the body inside to Barabanki, about 10 km away from Telco for dumping the body there in a bush. In the act of shifting the body, Sumeet had taken the help of his friend, Sonu Kumar.
Sumeet and Sonu had dumped the body in a bush and left the refrigerator at some other place. After the body was disposed of only, Sweta had lodged a missing person report for her husband.
It was a team of police officials led by the then additional SO, Kumar Gaurav that the mystery behind Tapan’s murder was unfolded and those responsible for the heinous crime arrested.
According to the prosecution, Sweta had an illicit relationship with Sumeet and wanted to get rid of her husband who used to do a business of land sale-purchase in Telco and adjoining the Govindpur area.
Sweta is presently lodged in Hazaribagh central jail whereas Sumeet and Sonu are lodged in Hotwar central jail.
