BWF World Tour finals: PV Sindhu sails into semis, Srikanth suffers defeat

Bali, Dec 2: India’s two-time Olympic medalist and star shuttler, P V Sindhu on Thursday marched into semi-finals of the ongoing BWF World Tour Finals.

Sindhu defeated German badminton player Yvonne Li in straight sets 21-10,21-13 to seal the game of 31 minutes.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Indian shuttler defeated Denmark’s Line Christopherson 21-14, 21-16 in a match that lasted for 38 minutes.

Meanwhile, Srikant lost his second Group B game in the men’s singles event of the ongoing tournament. For Srikanth, it was his third defeat to Vitidsarn, having lost to him at the Sudirman Cup in September and Asia Team Championships last year.

Also, the top men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty pulled out of the ongoing tournament. Earlier, the women’s doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy also suffered loss in the event. This is their second successive loss, fighting with 19-21, 20-22 to Bulgaria’s Gabriela Stoeva and Stefani Stoeva.
Notably, the BWF World Tour Finals is the season-ending tournament of the BWF World Tour, where the top-eight players/pairs in the season’s rankings are granted entry.
