New Delhi, Feb 23: CR Kesavan, the grandson of India’s first Indian Governor-General, C Rajagopalachari, announced his resignation, after serving Congress for over two decades.
Kesavan sent his letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge by describing how he joined Congress in 2001 after abandoning a career abroad.
“Driven by an ideology that was all-inclusive and committed to the goal of incremental national transformation, I joined the Congress Party in 2001,” read the letter.
“I am truly sad to say that for a while now I have not seen any vestiges of the values that made me work for the party with dedication for over two decades. I can no longer in good conscience say that I concur with what the party presently symbolises,” said CR Kesavan in the letter.
Kesavan emphasised the reason for leaving the grand old party by stating that he no longer ‘concur with what the party presently symbolizes’.
Kesavan clarified the situation by stating that he has not spoken with any other parties and is unsure about his future plans.
