Campaign in Ramgarh to search leprosy patients

Ramgarh, June 25: Under the National Leprosy Eradication Program, a leprosy search campaign is being conducted from 15th June to 28th June.  For which 1215 hamlets of Ramgarh district have been identified and 1157 teams have been formed with 201 supervisors and 1157 assistants. District Leprosy Prevention Officer Dr Savita Verma and her team conducted a campaign to find leprosy patients in Chitarpur, Kothar and Murramkala.

Dr Verma said that the main objective of this campaign is to remove the misconceptions about leprosy in society and to conduct a door-to-door search campaign through Sahiya according to the micro plan of each block.  While giving information, she said that at present leprosy is not a curse but it is a curable disease with proper treatment.  At the same time, she appealed to everyone that if a person sees a red stain on his or someone else’s body, it should be checked.  In all the government hospitals of the district, free investigation, free treatment and free medicines along with incentive amounts and other materials are also provided.

Under this campaign, so far out of 411 suspected people, 14 people have been identified as suffering from leprosy and all of them are cured.

Physician Dr Sawan Kumar, Sahiya, Supervisor and others were present on the spot.
