Capt Amarinder Singh joins BJP, merges PLC with saffron party

New Delhi, Sept 19: Former Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh joined BJP on Monday in the presence of Union Ministers Narendra Singh Tomar, Kiren Rijiju, BJP leader Sunil Jakhar and BJP Punjab chief Ashwani Sharma. He also merged his party Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) with BJP.

The former Chief Minister ran for office in Punjab in an alliance with the BJP, but he was unsuccessful. On his own soil, Patiala Urban, he was defeated. All of his candidates lost as well.

Following spinal surgery in London, Singh, also known as “Captain,” has just made his way back to India. Last week, he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. On Monday morning, he also met with BJP leader JP Nadda.
