Ranchi, April 22: The closure report of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Bakoria encounter has irked Bandhu Tirkey, a former minister, working president of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) and a member of the co-ordination committee of the Jharkhand government.
Tirkey, who lost his legislator status after a CBI special court convicted and sentenced him for having Rs 6 lakh extra from his known source of income, alleged the central probe agency of being a puppet of the union government.
“The act of submitting a closure report by a central probe agency once again proved that it works at the behest of the union government.”
“In the case of the alleged police Naxalite encounter on June 8, 2015, in Bakoria under Satbarwa OP of Palamu Sadar police station area, the CBI has submitted its closure report. With this development it has become clear the investigation was not unbiased and the probe agency is working completely at the behest of the Central Government. After this closure report, the remaining mask has also been removed from the face of the CBI,” he said, issuing a press statement.
Tirkey said that the Bakoria incident was such a massacre, whose investigation was being watched by 3.25 crore people of Jharkhand but in this case the CBI has not only filed the closure report in the court but has also thrown off its mask.
“Bakoria was such a scandal in which many officers from the level of constable to the Director General of Police were questioned by the CBI. Apart from this, the CBI has clearly said that it has not found any evidence in the case of the allegations levelled against the police by the victim’s families. This closure report submitted after investigation against the culprits of killing 10 innocent persons and children is a very serious matter and the BJP leaders of Jharkhand should especially clarify their position on this matter because prima facie it seems to be a one-sided report,” he said.
Expressing his concern over the issue the tribal leader asked the union government for an appropriate direction for proper probe in the matter. He asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah to take steps towards making CBI neutral.
