New Delhi, April 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Monday that the primary duty of the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) was to rid India of corruption since it was the largest obstacle to democracy and justice.

“The CBI has given faith to people through its work and techniques. Even today, when a case remains unsolved, there are demands that it be handed over to the CBI,” said PM Modi while speaking at an event organised as part of the agency’s diamond jubilee celebrations.

According to PM Modi, the CBI has a significant amount of responsibility since developing India is impossible without the help of skilled and effective organisations.

“We have already initiated action against black money and benami properties on mission mode. Besides the corrupt, we are also fighting against the causes of corruption. This government does not lack the political will to fight corruption,” he added.
