CCL, ECL sign pact with Jharkhand govt to set up 5000-seat library in Ranchi, hospital in Godda

Ranchi, Feb. 17: The Jharkhand government on Friday signed two MOUs with Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) and Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) for the construction of a library in Ranchi and a hospital in Godda.

The MOU was signed in the presence of Union Coal and Mines Minister Prahalad Joshi and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

As per the MOU, the CCL will construct a library on the Ranchi University campus with a capacity of 5000 students with CSR funds. On the other hand, ECL will build a 300-bed hospital with modern facilities at Mahagama in Godda district. Notably, Congress’ Mahagama MLA Dipika Pandey Singh had long been fighting for the hospital and she had even made it a poll issue.

For the library the CCL will provide Rs. 62.49 crore that will be spread over two acres of land on the Ranchi University campus. Spread over 11753 sq. meters area the library will be a G+5 building to be constructed in two years.

The said state level library building will have six lifts, E-Resource,  Journal section, Conference Room, Reference book section, Institutional digital repository, Thesis, Dissertation, Report and Newspaper section, Digital Library section, Solar rooftop panels for power generation, STP Sewage Facilities of treatment plant, Energy efficient lighting systems, Queue management, Double wall system considered to reduce heat gain, Sufficient Parking, modular furniture, Cubicles for group study, Meeting Rooms, Meditation Centre and Cafeteria.

The hospital at Mahagama will be a G+3 hospital building with OPD area and other related infrastructure and facilities namely multi-specialty medical unit with ICU and others.

“The health infrastructure in Mahagama has been missing. Once the hospital is constructed it will be come to a great help,” said Dipika Pandey Singh.
