Jamshedpur, April 18:  There will be no respite from the scorching heat for the next 72- hours at least as IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre predicted two to three degree Celsius rise in maximum temperature.

An alert for a heat wave was also issued for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Ruling out the possibility of any rainfall activity today weathermen at IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre said that no significant synoptic condition prevails over Jharkhand.

A Western Disturbance as a trough in the middle troposphere with its axis at 5.8 Km above mean sea level roughly along Longitude 60°E to the north of Latitude 28°N persists.

A cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan was also seen between 1.5 and 3.1 Km above mean sea level.

Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed over the state during the past 24 hours.

The highest maximum temperature of 41.8°C was recorded at Chaibasa while the lowest minimum temperature of 20.4°C was recorded at Simdega.

According to a long term forecast, light rain or thunderstorm is likely at isolated places over northeast, south and adjoining central parts of the state on  April 20 and 21.
