New Delhi, Sept 28: The Centre raised the dearness allowance for government employees by 4% on Wednesday in anticipation of the holiday season. The rise is based on the 7th Pay Commission’s recommendations.
The most recent increase will result in a 38% increase in the dearness allowance for central government employees.
The proposal to release an additional tranche of DA to offset the price increase was agreed at the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) meeting, which was presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The staff would get the arrears payment along with their most recent paychecks because the current dearness announcement boost went into effect on July 1.
With effect from January 1, 2022, the most recent rise in the dearness allowance was announced in March. Over the prior rate of 31%, the DA rise in March was 3%.
Notably, Dearness Allowance is provided by the central government for its employees to adjust to the inflation-like situation.
Pensioners also get dearness relief same as the amount received by the employees of the central government.
