Ranchi, Jan.24: The Union Rural Development Ministry has asked MGNREGA commissioner of Jharkhand Rajeshwari B to take action in the matter of irregularities in implementation of the rural job scheme in the state observed in concurrent audit conducted in various districts of the state.
The ministry gave direction to Commissioner Rajeshwari after irregularities came to its knowledge through media on January 14 2022. The ministry has asked the commissioner to ensure action and ensure that there should not be any malpractice in implementation of the scheme within three weeks.
“You have been requested to ensure that action is taken in all such cases with full force for all the Gram Panchayats,” the letter by MGNREGA director Dharmvir Jha reads.
The ministry has asked to report the commissioner on the action taken against officials including GRSs, BDOs, engineers, PRI functionaries involved in the malpractice, if any. The ministry asked her to take action, should have information on FIR lodged, disciplinary proceedings initiated and concluded, recovery proposed and made.
Apart from this, the ministry also asked her to report on the system in place for monitoring action being taken on the findings of the concurrent audits and system changes and checks introduced for stopping and mitigating the irregularities.
