New Delhi, Aug 18: The Government has issued spectrum allocation letters to telecom service providers and asked them to prepare for the rollout of 5G services in the country.
In a post on Koo on Thursday, Telecom minister Ashwini Vaishnaw requested that telecom service providers get ready for launch following the conclusion of the nation’s largest-ever airwaves auction
India is in the final stages of bringing out high-speed 5G communication services with this spectrum allocation.
Bharti Airtel received the letter distributing its share of the spectrum barely hours after paying the Department of Telecom in advance, according to Sunil Bharti Mittal, the company’s founder and chairman.
The Department of Telecom (DoT) has never before issued a letter of spectrum allocation on the same day as an upfront payment.
“Airtel paid ? 8,312.4 crore towards spectrum dues and was provided with the allocation letter for the designated frequency bands within hours. E band allocation was given along with spectrum as promised. No Fuss, No Follow Up, No running around the corridors and No tall claims. This is the ease of doing business at work in its full glory,” Mittal said in a statement.
For the spectrum they just won in an auction, service providers Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, Adani Data Networks, and Vodafone Idea paid the Department of Telecom a total of roughly 17,876 crore.
While all other telecom companies opted to pay in 20 annual instalments, Bharti Airtel paid 8,312.4 crore, or four annual instalments.
In addition, it is projected that the rollout of 5G would boost remote data monitoring in a number of sectors, including mining, manufacturing, telemedicine, and storage.
The predicted speed of 5G services above 4G is around ten times faster.
