New Delhi, Sept 5: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has summoned Wikipedia executives in India to find out how Indian cricketer Arshdeep Singh’s Wikipedia page entry was modified to indicate his Khalistan affiliation.

According to ministry officials, the Centre believes that the alterations (which incorrectly showed a link to Khalistan) could generate discord in India.

According to ministry officials, changes to the page could result in law and order issues for Arshdeep Singh’s family.

After India’s five-wicket loss to Pakistan in the Asia Cup on Sunday, the Wikipedia entry was updated. After India’s defeat, fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was chastised for dropping a catch.

Following that, the Wikipedia entries stated that Singh had been chosen to play for the “Khalistani national cricket team.” The page was eventually restored.
